One statement that captures the depth of Christ's suffering can be found in the Bible, specifically in the Gospel of Matthew. In Matthew 27:46, it is written, "And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, 'Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?' that is, 'My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?'" This cry of abandonment from Jesus on the cross illustrates the intense agony and isolation he experienced during his crucifixion.
