Five types of folds?

1. Syncline - a downward fold in which the youngest rocks are in the center
2. Anticline - an upward fold in which the oldest rocks are in the center
3. Monocline - a simple bend in the rock layers, with one limb dipping more steeply than the other
4. Overturned fold - a fold in which one limb has been tilted beyond the vertical
5. Recumbent fold - a fold in which the limbs are nearly horizontal and the axial plane is nearly vertical
